Breakfast in bed on a Sunday morning, with a catch up of my week. This time I’m talking about getting back to yoga, the Valentine’s Day hype and passing my driving test.
Well it was certainly a very different kind of night out. When the lovely team at Clue HQ Manchester invited me to have a go at their latest ‘live escape room’, I wasn’t short of volunteers to join in. As a group of first-timers we were challenged with the Detonation game and despite little knowledge of what to expect, we all thoroughly enjoyed our hour of laughs, frights and challenges.
Making a list of what I’ve been loving over the last month came to me easily as there seems to be a lot of new things that I’ve picked up or I’ve been trying out since the start of the new year. Limiting it to five was the hard bit but here’s what made the cut…
I’ve always held the idea of practicing yoga in high regard, with massive respect to those who power through hours of balance, stretching and movement. In 2016 I got the yoga bug and began discovering the far-reaching benefits for myself. Hey, I even got my own yoga mat!
Despite the rainy start to the day, a good ol’ Sunday brunch put a smile on our faces this morning. We headed out to Solomon’s, a quirky bar/ cafe, to finally check out their brunch menu and hide away from our long to-do list of coursework and cleaning for a couple more hours.
Changing perceptions of protein for women and understanding it’s power to help us achieve our goals is the driving force behind My Protein’s latest launch. The ‘Active Women’ range is a combination of protein based blends, supplements and snacks formulated specifically to support us females with our muscle development *insert bicep emoji*. I went along to their launch party to hear about and, more importantly, taste test the products.
September is a great month for shopping. I’ve moved into a new house (new decor required), student loans are in (new purchases are actually possible) and I’m kicking off my third year as a fashion student (new clothes definitely needed). So, in true ‘I have one day in uni this week’ style; I have spent my last few days checking the new in pages of my favourite stores and hunting out things that I’ve convinced myself I need for a new year.
I’m not quite the person that needs to Snapchat or Tweet about every time I go to the gym but I do seem to find myself talking about it a whole lot of the time. Why? Well, it’s most definitely not because I know what I’m doing (I’m still working on that bit) so I guess it’s because I just kinda like it. I like the feeling of working my absolute hardest at something, I like seeing myself improve and most of all, I really like the post-work out feeling. Being able to walk out the gym a hot, sweaty mess and know that you’ve done something with your day that your body will truly thank you for, is all the motivation I need.
Moving into a new house is definitely one of the most exciting parts of heading back to uni. It’s exciting to live only upstairs/ next door to the people you’ve spent all summer missing (at least it is for the first few weeks anyway) or to move into totally new surroundings and play out your expectations of what uni life is all about. Whilst I can only dream of jumping back two years to re-live my first two years at uni and once again experience the responsibility-free life of a fresher, I can still get excited at the prospect of returning to education for another year. Even if that’s only to transform a new blank-canvas room into my next home from home.
