I spend far too much time curating wish lists in my head and filling up virtual baskets, but here’s a solid summary of what’s top of my list this July.
The lingerie trend, as seen across the spring/ summer 2016 catwalks from the likes of Givenchy, Céline and Balenciaga is admittedly one of the hardest to master with style and grace this season. Without finding yourself in an outfit that you’d be ashamed to greet your Grandma in, the key is to cleverly pair statement lingerie pieces with wardrobe classics. Think about thoughtfully exposing lace straps with loose fits and layering sheer fabrics for effortless sophistication. You know you’ve nailed the trend when you dress up by dressing down.

A quick outfit of the day, which I wore to a Blogger Hangout event in London last week.
I pretty much live in black boots but I’m always drawn to the chunky pairs with buckles, zips and big soles. However, when I spotted this slightly more girly pair in the Topshop sale for a bargain price, they went straight in my basket.
I am back in London now for my Easter break but before the long list of coursework can be tackled, I’m treating myself to some retail therapy and using ‘I got through this Semester’ as an excuse. Today is apparently the first day of Spring and recently I’ve been rather optimistically shopping for jackets and bikinis, although this is definitely not a reflection of outside temperatures. I got to experience my first Swish clothes swap at a pop-up on campus this week as part of my university’s Big Green Gathering Sustainability Festival. The ‘ethical’ trend is here for the long-haul in the fashion industry and rightly so, every 10 minutes we send 7 tonnes of clothes to landfill in the UK. The idea of swishing is to pick up some new items for your wardrobe in exchange for your own pre-loved apparel, all whilst avoiding the usual financial and sustainability hangovers.
