Make up Bag Essentials

Make-up bag

The majority of the products that fill my everyday make up bag are on their 5th, 6th, 7th… re-purchase but there’s also a couple of new additions that have made the cut straight onto my essentials list. These are my go-to products for creating an everyday look, although there’s a couple of variations for a day-to-night transition. In other words, all the essentials!

First up is eyes and the Bare Minerals Eyeliner in Midnight, which has only recently replaced my trusty L’Oreal liquid liner. At the moment, I’m loving the ease of a pencil liner for adding a touch of definition and then I’ll use Maybelline’s Lash Sensational Mascara, which is the only mascara I’ve used for months.

Finally, the most recent addition to my eye shadow collection, the Maybelline ‘The Nudes’ Palette, which I received as a Christmas present this year. It feels like there’s a new, high-end palette released on a daily basis but don’t forget about the drugstore brands, this one is so versatile and definitely does the job.

Benefit’s eyebrow product range is by far the most extensive I have seen and the products that I have tried out so far definitely live up to their hype. For the everyday, I always use the Goof Proof Eyebrow Pencil and the Ready, Set, Brow! Clear Brow Gel. So easy, so quick. Side note: have  you seen the latest Benefit product launch? I got to try out some of their unique lip and eye products, which I loved. More on that soon…

The one product that has been firmly on my essentials list for years is the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer– nothing beats it! I use the shade 01 Fair and it is always a challenge to find, so I recommend stocking up when you do get your hands on it. Also, MAC’s Powder Blush in Desert Rose has been a long-term resident in my collection and it remains my go-to blusher.

A fairly new addition to my make up bag is the Deborah Mitchell Silk Skin BeeBee Cream, which offers a really light and natural coverage, perfect for a day in lectures or a trip to the shops. The colour ‘English Rose’ is an ideal match for my pale skin and it adds a definite glow. Another new addition is the Revolution Ultra Sculpt and Contour Palette, which I picked up on a whim to try out the bronzer and highlight. Turns out I love them both and they’re are an absolute bargain!

I don’t tend to wear lipsticks on an everyday basis so these are my current favourites for dressing up a look (i.e. not nudes). First is the Catrice Ultimate Stay in 020 ‘All That She Wants’, which I have worn so much recently as the perfect semi-matte, deep pink. My first choice for something a bit more dramatic is the Collection Deluxe in 01 ‘Prohibition’. It’s a deep berry colour and it has held its place in my collection for a really long time.
