I feel like every time I leave my house I’m in a pair of trainers. Whilst comfort is the overriding reason why trainers never leave my feet, the pairs I’ve got are also really easy to style and well suited to my uni-gym-home-repeat lifestyle. That was until I received this curveball pair from WODEN… zebra print.
WODEN are a Scandinavian brand and their trainers bridge fashion and comfort at a mid market level. The first thing that I noted when I got my hands on this zebra print pair is the unique use of cork insoles. The soft suede of the zebra print material gives them an effortless sophistication, just like you’d expect from a brand with Scandinavian roots. The trainers are a soft beige colour- fortunately not the flashy zebra print I was expecting and the tongue of the shoes is very discreet to again add to the minimalistic Scandinavian style. Styling such loud shoes can feel quite overpowering but I’ve avoided prints elsewhere and focused on using basic silhouettes to create one day and one night look.
Peplum Shirt, United Colors of Benetton | Sliver Skinny Jeans, Levis* | Trainers, Woden*
I picked up this pale blue peplum shirt in the end of season sales this year and I love how it looks with these super skinny Levis. White jeans add sophistication to any look, whilst the shirt (aside from creasing SO badly) matches the playful feel of the trainers.
Culottes, MANGO | Cami top, River Island | Trainers, WODEN
Trainers for an evening look might be pushing it but I think that this black cami and culottes combination works with the shoes to create a stylish ensemble. Again, the shapes and colours are simple but the shoes add all the fun.
